Pegasus Sculpture, Gulfstream Park, United States of America

Pegasus Sculpture, USA - The 33 m high and 60 m long sculpture ensemble, featuring Pegasus and a dragon, was realised in a larger than life size. With the help of the PERI UP solution, more than 1,000 bronze castings could be assembled and welded on site.
Pegasus Sculpture, USA - The PERI UP Rosett Flex modular scaffold system provided safe working conditions for the craftsmen and metal designers during the realisation of the 33 m high bronze work of art.
Pegasus Sculpture, USA - PERI UP was flexibly adapted to suit the organic shape of the bronze sculpture in 25 cm increments and thus provided optimum conditions for all necessary operational steps: adjustment, welding, processing, chasing and patinating.
Pegasus Sculpture, USA - Cost-effective system combination: VARIOKIT system components supplemented the PERI UP scaffold solution in particular for the large-span bridging.

  • Realisation of a 33 m high and 60 m long Pegasus bronze sculpture
  • Processing and shaping of 250 t bronze and 400 t steel in a 2-year construction period
  • Sculpture created using 1,250 individual bronze pieces, each approx. 3 m² in size and weighing 200 kg, which were joined together around a steel construction like a 3D puzzle

Requirements

  • Provision of the required working and access levels in order to facilitate the assembly, welding and finishing work on 1,250 bronze parts on site to form a larger-than-life sculpture
  • Flexible scaffold adjustment to match the complex, organic form - continuously following the erection progress
  • Large-span bridging for non-load bearing parts of the building
